Installation of steel sheet piles in Finland & Northern Sweden

Steel sheet pile walls are a safe solution when you need a retaining wall for earthworks, hydraulic structures or building foundations. They are used in harbours, bridges, trenches, embankments, embankments and permanent retaining walls. They are suitable for both temporary and permanent structures and can withstand high loads and demanding conditions.

The sheet pile wall is made of interlocking steel plates with sheet pile locks on the edges. This provides a compact and stable structure that prevents the soil from collapsing and water from entering the trenches. At HVM Infra, we install steel pontoons in the ground by vibration or percussion. When the rock is high, the lower edge of the pontoon may be too low in relation to the level of the excavation and the lower end will not stay in place on its own. In this case, the solution is root pins drilled into the rock, which we can also make.

The advantages of a sheet pile wall are quick installation, demountability and reusability, and excellent tightness. Steel sheet piles are also recyclable, making them a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative for many soil structures.

Full service

We can supply you with steel sheet pile walls as a complete delivery with supporting beams and anchor walls. We also design retaining walls according to the customer’s needs. We also make steel stud walls with anchors. The anchors can be, for example, anchors drilled into the rock and soldered on, or anchors supported by counter anchors or other fixed tension rods.

Renting services

We also rent steel sheet pile wall from our own warehouse, which allows for fast deliveries to our customers.

Equipment

We carry out the installation of steel sheet pile walls mainly with our Movax equipment. We have a versatile and high-performance fleet, including machines of various sizes.

When are sheet pile walls used?

Challenging soil conditions

Sometimes the soil is weak and it is not possible to make a trench by sloping, but the edge must be supported by tongue and groove. Often used, for example, in the installation of pumping stations.

Steep slopes into the trench

Even if the soil is hard and durable, it is not always possible to make a trench by sloping, for example due to lack of space. In this case, the solution is steel sheet piling.

Sealing of dam structures

Steel sheet piles are moderately waterproof when the joints are treated with a waterproofing additive. This enables construction near watercourses. Steel sheet piles can also be used as a sealing structure in dam structures.

Construction of confined spaces

Sometimes construction is carried out next to existing buildings, roads or bridges. If the new structures go deeper than the existing structures, it may be necessary to resort to supporting the structures. Here, steel sheet piles can make it possible to dig even deep trenches.
