Work bridges – A safe and sustainable platform for working
HVM Infra implements working bridges reliably and cost-effectively. We have versatile equipment and experienced personnel at our disposal to ensure high-quality results even in demanding conditions.

Work bridge construction in Finland & Northern Sweden
Work bridge quickly provide a temporary platform for safe working. They act as working platforms, temporary structures, formwork supports and maintenance walls during the construction project. A working bridge is usually built on piles and is dimensioned to withstand the designed loads and load-bearing capacity even under demanding conditions. They are used particularly in waterway construction, but are also suitable for dry land where the soil does not have sufficient bearing capacity.
The construction of working bridges contributes to safety on the site, as they enable an efficient working environment and smooth and sustainable logistics for transport to the site. A well-designed and constructed working bridge reduces risks, improves labour productivity and supports the successful completion of a construction project on schedule. They are also an environmentally friendly choice as they can be dismantled at the end of the construction project.
Varying conditions
When building bridges, particular attention should be paid to safety at work, as work is often carried out near water or at height. Fall protection and life jackets are good safety equipment when working on a bridge. With the right equipment and skills, work can be safe and efficient.
We also have experience of working from a ferry in connection with the construction of the Hailuoto work bridge. We are able to take into account the challenging environment and climate and still build the working bridges accurately and safely.
Carefully planned implementation
With machine guidance systems, work bridges can be built in the right place anywhere, even on water where there are no markings on the ground. The machine control system gives the machine operator the positions of the bridge structures, such as piles. If required, we can also provide the design of the work bridges through a partner.
Experience in large projects
HVM Infra has experience in large bridge projects. An example is the construction of the Hailuoto fixed link work bridge. The bridge had a total length of 700 metres and a deck area of 11 800 m2, requiring 20 000 metres of piles.
We have also carried out larger sites to, for example:
Oulu Tuira bridge
Tampere Särkänsilta bridge
Kitee Syrjäsalmi bridge

Frequently asked questions about work bridge construction
Why purchase construction of work bridges from HVM Infra?
We have extensive experience in demanding work bridge projects, so we can ensure a safe and functional working environment from the start. We utilise machine control technology to ensure that work bridges are carried out accurately, efficiently and on time. We can also provide you with the design, if required, so that the entire bridge construction process is handled smoothly by one partner.
What is the difference between a work bridge and an access bridge?
Work bridges are most often used in waterway construction, while access bridges are used on construction sites to cross trenches, pipes or other site obstacles.
How long does it take to build a work bridge?
The duration of the construction of a work bridge varies greatly depending on the site, as it is influenced by location, conditions and load-bearing requirements.
